Live in a French family and benefit from 15 hours of private homeschooling in French, during the first two weeks of your stay.
The Nacel homestay program offers students the opportunity to experience the French way of life and allows them to discover the typical life of a young French teenager. Students are welcomed by their host families as if they were a member of the family and spend their time with them.
Nacel’s homestay with a French host family provides a firsthand opportunity to understand French culture and improve language communication skills. French is a widely-spread language not only in the world of culture but also in the world of business. Speaking French is a tremendous asset for a future business and personal career. Students learn through constant immersion in the French way of life. They are not able to speak their native language, and realize that French language skills improve quickly and efficiently.
Host families come from varied social and economical backgrounds and may live in all different types of locations (in a big town, in a small city, in a village or on a farm...). No matter where the host family lives, there are always wonderful things for the student to discover and absorb. Students can be placed anywhere in the country and must accept any location.
This option provides 15 hours/program (not per week) of home schooling, by a member of the host family, during the first two weeks of the Homestay. This program is mainly intended for students who only have very basic French language skills. The student learns French with a member of the host family on a one-to-one basis during the first two weeks of the Homestay.
The tutoring is focused on improving conversational French, with an emphasis on the French lifestyle and culture. Writing, reading, and listening activities are included to round out the student's learning. The student will also be taught how to « fit in » with the local culture and about the community and its values. The student is encouraged to write a daily journal and to tape and playback conversations during the lessons.
The student is hosted on a full board basis.
French host families volunteer to host a student, which means they are not paid to provide room and board. They are generally really enthusiastic and offer a warm welcome to the student. They are also eager to share their way of life with the student, and will want to know all about life back home.
French host families welcome their exchange student for several weeks in the hope that the experience will lead to lasting friendship. They look forward to sharing not only their language but also their everyday life with someone eager to participate.
