It is divided into Primary education (9 grades, age 6-14) and Secondary education (3 grades, age 14-17/18).
Classes usually start between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m. and finish between 1:00 and 1:30 pm. The school year starts in February and ends in December.
The subjects offered are: Portuguese Language, Brazilian Literature, Foreign Language (usually English), History, Geography, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Biology, Arts, and Physical Education.
