Students also have one free afternoon each week to relax and enjoy some personal time.
What is it like to stay with an Italian host family in Florence?
Host families live in Florence or nearby areas, with the school easily accessible on foot or by public transportation.
What accommodation and meals are included?
- Shared bedrooms: Stay with one or two other students of the same gender and a similar age.
- Full-board accommodation: Your host family provides breakfast and dinner every weekday, all meals during weekends.
- Restaurant lunches: Lunch is included from Monday to Friday at local restaurants, giving students another opportunity to experience Italian food and socialize with friends.
Dietary requirements: Special dietary needs, including allergies and celiac disease, can be taken into consideration.
How are host families selected?
All host families are carefully selected and personally known by the language school. Each family undergoes police checks and a home inspection before welcoming students.
During evenings and overnight stays, host families are responsible for the teenagers in their care, providing a supportive environment while students experience everyday life in Italy.

Your child will be welcomed by the host family, the school staff and/or the local Nacel staff. This is a time when the student will get a lot of practical information. For some programs, host families will show to the children what the itinerary is to go to classes for example.
Children won’t be accompanied everyday to their classroom, and will usually travel by public transportation if they need to. If you have any question regarding this matter on a specific program, don’t hesitate to ask us!
