For students who are looking for a broader experience of life in a foreign country, Nacel International offers High school programs during a term, a semester or a full academic year. Students will mainly live in a host family or choose a residence and attend a public or private high school, giving them the opportunity to learn about another culture and improve their language skills.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS : Participating in a High School Program means total immersion in the host country life, and as such it is an ideal way to achieve proficiency in the spoken language of the country as well as gain a complete cross-cultural experience. The High School Program is very selective : Every student must be interviewed in the home country before being accepted. If a student’s dossier does not confirm that the participant satisfies the requirements listed below, Nacel International retains the right to refuse the student.

Each student needs to comply with the following requirements :
• Age specification according to the country,
• 2 or more years of language study with good grades,
• An above-average academic record,
• A previous experience of living away from home,
• An interest in learning about another culture and language,
• A willingness to make new friends and to share the daily life of a host family,
• An open and flexible attitude.

Accreditation for courses taken while on the program is the responsibility of the participant.

CREDITS/TRANSFERS

The student is not guaranteed placement in a certain grade level, or that transferable credits will be granted, or that a diploma will be awarded at the end of the High school program. These decisions remain at the entire discretion of the national educational authorities. Nacel International is not responsible for the procedures needed in this process.

APPLICATION DEADLINE : Applications for High school programs are accepted until March for sessions starting in August-September and until September for sessions starting in January. Please check accurate deadlines for each program.
Early application is highly recommended. A student interested in this program should contact us immediately and email us the pre-application to secure a place.

Then the student will have to carefully fill the full High School dossier provided by the receiving country. The full dossier should be sent directly to the receiving office, which will be in touch throughout the application procedure and the student’s stay.

UNITED STATES :

The United States of America is a country in North America that extends from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and shares land borders with Canada and Mexico. Its contiguous portion is bounded by the North Atlantic Ocean to the east, the North Pacific Ocean to the west, Mexico and the Gulf of Mexico to the south, and Canada to the north. The state of Alaska also borders Canada, with the Pacific Ocean to its south and the Arctic Ocean to its north. West of Alaska, across the narrow Bering Strait, is Russia. The state of Hawaii occupies an archipelago in the Pacific Ocean, southwest of the North American mainland.

The first inhabitants of continental North America arrived after the ice age from Asia across what is now the Bering Strait. These nomadic hunters eventually settled and developed into distinct groups. Their descendants were Native American cultures such as the Pueblos in the South West, Navajo in Arizona, Apache in Texas, Cherokee in North Carolina, Crow in Montana and Mohawk and Iroquois in New York State.

In the 16th century European exploration and settlement began, led by the English, Dutch and Swedish. On July 4, 1776, at war with Britain over fair governance, thirteen of these colonies declared their independence. In 1783, the war ended in British acceptance of the new nation. Since then, the United States of America has more than quadrupled in size: it now consists of 50 states and one federal district; it also has numerous overseas territories.
