GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The French school is located in the centre-west of Rouen. Easy access to the school (metro stop 300 meters). However, please note that public transportation is stopped at midnight. Facilities: free-access multimedia room, library, DVD-tèque, equestrian centre, self-study facilities, free Internet access, cafeteria and restaurants at 4 minutes walk. Hat and cold drinks machine, water fountain, sweets and crisps machine

1) GENERAL FRENCH COURSE
The student can choose between two formulas:

- SEMI-INTENSIVE COURSE
15 hours/week  (from Monday to Friday, 9.30 am to 13.00 pm with a 30 minute break from 11 to 11.30 am).
Classes of 10 students maximum.

- INTENSIVE COURSE
25 hours/week (from Monday to Friday 9.30 am to 13.00 pm and 14.00 to 16.00 pm with a 30 minute breaks from 11 to 11.30 am and from 13.00 to 14.00 pm for lunch)
Classes of 10 students maximum.
DATES: Any Monday during the year.
A wild range of social and cultural activities are offered at cost price.

 2) FRENCH & DISCOVER THE FRENCH CUISINE
The student can choose between two formulas:

- GOURMET FRENCH
Introduction to both the language and the culinary delights of Normandy.
Morning program: French course
Afternoon program : 3 visits to local producers of regional specialties with 3 evening gourmet meals at award-winning local restaurants.
15 hours/week (from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm from Monday to Friday).
Classes of 12 students maximum.
DATES: The Gourmet French program takes place on the 06/02, 05/03, 16/04, 08/10, 19/11/2012.

- FRENCH and CUISINE
It combines language learning with the art of cookery learning with professional French chefs.
Morning program: French course
Lunch is included for three of the 5 days.
Afternoon program: 3 afternoon cookery in Institute Culinary of Normandy.
10 hours/week (from 9.30 am to 12.00 pm from Monday to Friday).
Classes of 12 students maximum.
DATES: The French and Cuisine program takes place on the 06/02, 05/03, 16/04, 08/10, 19/11/2012.

4 types of exams can be prepared:
- DELF and DALF (diplomas meant to assess the linguistic competence of a candidate). They are delivered by the Education ministry.
- TFI (placement test in French for non- French-speaking candidates for a professional environment).
- BULATS (diagnostic test of language proficiency in European

ACADEMIC STAFF
All teachers are French and highly qualified with many years experience teaching students. Private government-accredited school in Normandy and the only IALC school in the North West of France.
At the end of the course, students fill in a court satisfaction questionnaire.

FIRST DAY ORIENTATION: Begin at 08.30 am, includes a town visit in the afternoon. Students will have to bring a passport photo.

LOCATION
Rouen is famous for its history (medieval city), beautiful landscapes, its fine regional cook and of course the friendly welcome offered by the people. This North-West French city is in the capital of Normandy and the Seine-Maritime department. The city, also known as the ‘Ville aux cent clochers’ dear to Victor Hugo, has preserved much of its historical centre which is now largely composed of pedestrian streets. As you walk through the historical centre, past half timbered houses, discover architectural treasures for example Gothic monuments like the Notre Dame Cathedral, St Ouen Abbey, Saint Maclou Church and the Palais de Justice or Renaissance style monuments like the Gros Horloge, Saint Maclou Ossuary. Or you can also follow in the steps of Richard the Lion Heart, Joan of Arc, Pierre Corneille or Gustave Flaubert, some of the many characters who have been part of Rouen’s history.
 
After your day treasure hunting, come and enjoy cultural events and performances throughout the summer period, for example the ‘From Monet to Pixels’ light show on the façade of the Cathedral which transforms the impressive gothic monument into a huge painting canvas with images inspired by Claude Monet’s paintings. An amazing and impressive show! Finally after a busy day in Rouen, you can enjoy a well-earned rest savoring the cuisine in some local restaurants. Enjoy our French school in Rouen!

Learn French in France and have fun at our French language school in Rouen! Visits are organized by the French school in France: companies and institutions, cinemas, theatres, local producers. Typical half-day activities during the week: visit to Rouen museums, visit to local radio, visit to Paris, sport activities …
Students are responsible for any fees related to these optional activities.

Train : Eurostar train ; French train (S.N.C.F.) puts about an hour to do Paris/Rouen.
The train station is well deserved by buses and metros.

ACCOMMODATION :

French Host family (recommended): single room; half board on weekdays, and full board on weekends and bank holidays. Our French host families are carefully selected and offer a warm welcome to the French language school's students.

VISA: Visa for citizens of non-European countries.
