Participants will have the opportunity to participate in a language course with cultural activities and day trips in the city of Kyoto.
During their stay in Japan, students will receive language courses at our partner school in Kyoto. This school has all the modern facilities and a group of qualified professionals in the field of education. Every year, students from all over the world join this program, as it offers structured and effective Japanese language classes and cultural activities with an insight into the everyday Japanese lifestyle. Language courses in Japan take place during the summer and should be requested 5 months prior to your arrival.

Supervision
Classes and activities may be shared with adult students, but will always be supervised by school staff. Students have a curfew in the host family and are expected to be back at the house before 11 PM at the latest. They will travel from and to school with public transport and this is unsupervised.

About Kyoto
Kyoto is no longer the capital of Japan, but it remains the heart of the country. Kyoto is one of the best-preserved cities with a high historical value. Buddhist temples, Shinto Shrines, castles, and gardens, there is so much to see and visit in Kyoto that you will not be bored. It is a safe destination for students who want to discover more about the 'old' Japan.
School location
The school is only a few minutes away from the wonderful Gion district, one of the oldest and most traditional places in Kyoto, if not in all of Japan. It is common to come across a Maiko (apprentice Geisha) or even a Geisha. People who visit Gion often feel like they have entered another era when there were no cars and only people pushing you around in their carriages.
The programs combine an orientation class, a Kyoto city tour, Japanese lessons, and fun weekday activities that students are sure to love. Every two Saturdays, they will also a Day Trip, such as traveling to Himeji Castle, Amanohashidate and Ine. Japan during the summer has never been so exciting.
Specific activities change according to season and availability.

In Kyoto, you will stay with a host family. Families are located up to ninety minutes by public transport from the school.
Staying with a carefully selected Japanese host family is the perfect way to immerse yourself in the culture and practice what you have learned at school that day at "home." The host family will support you and be a resource in your adventure in Japan.
In your room, you will have the following:
- Bed (sheets/blankets/etc provided)
- Desk and chair
- Air conditioning
- Internet (not guaranteed, and might be wiredâaccess only, so bring your own LAN cable or buy a cheap wifi router from school if required)
- Closet (not guaranteed)/clothes rack
The package includes half-board accommodation (Breakfast and dinner). Lunch is available at restaurants/cafes (not included)

Students have an orientation, take a Japanese-level test, and begin classes. Schedules are provided weekly through the student portal. Depending on the schedule you can have morning or afternoon classes.
Yes, students must have a working phone number in Japan for emergency contact. The school can help students arrange SIM cards or pocket Wi-Fi.
Bedsheets are provided, but please bring your own towels and toiletries (toothpaste, face wash, shampoo, etc.).
In general, we can accommodate most diets. However, if your diet is very strict, you may be advised to prepare your own meals. Please let us know about your dietary needs before booking so we can confirm whether we can accept you into the program.
Students will be assigned to a family that best fits their needs and is located closest to the school. You will be asked to fill in a form with detailed questions to find the best matching family for you.
This arrangement will be finalized 3 weeks to 1 month prior to the start of classes.
All students are required to have travel insurance for the duration of their stay. The insurance must cover potential medical expenses as well as property damage liability. If you would like us to arrange travel insurance for you, please indicate this during the booking process.
