About Kyoto

Kyoto is no longer the capital of Japan, but it remains the heart of the country. Kyoto is one of the best-preserved cities with a high historical value. Buddhist temples, Shinto Shrines, castles, and gardens, there is so much to see and visit in Kyoto that you will not be bored. It is a safe destination for students who want to discover more about the 'old' Japan.

School location

The school is only a few minutes away from the wonderful Gion district, one of the oldest and most traditional places in Kyoto, if not in all of Japan. It is common to come across a Maiko (apprentice Geisha) or even a Geisha. People who visit Gion often feel like they have entered another era when there were no cars and only people pushing you around in their carriages.

Activities

The programs combine an orientation class, a Kyoto city tour, Japanese lessons, and fun weekday activities that students are sure to love. Every two Saturdays, they will also join a Day Trip, such as traveling to Himeji Castle, Universal Studios Japan, Iga Ninja Experience or another great destination. Japan during the summer has never been so exciting.

Specific activities change according to season and availability. Classes and activities may be shared with adult students

  • Manga drawing workshop,
  • Nishijin woven mill experience,
  • Kimono wearing,
  • Kendo,
