ACCOMMODATION WITH HOST FAMILIES

Definition of a host family. A host family can be a single adult person, with our without children, retired people, couple with children.  A host family does not have systematically children the same age as the participant. The participant can be welcome by a host family whose social environment, race or religion is different from his/hers. All the host families are carefully visited and selected by our local representatives.

During the visit, the local representative explains the aim of the program. In addition to the accommodation, the host family is expected to introduce the local culture and way of life to the participant. The participant should not expect or request that the family organises tourist visits.

Participants must adapt to the host family life, environment, and not the contrary.

A host family can welcome up to 3 exchange students – but none of them share the same home language; ie one German, one Canadian and one Mexican.

ACCOMMODATION IN RESIDENCE/STUDENTS’ CENTRES We offer programs with a residence/students’ centres accommodation.
The residence can be the boarding quarters of a school, or a youth residence.

The accommodation there is on multishared rooms (up to 6 beds per room). The bedrooms cannot be locked for security reasons in some residences. Sanitaries are common.
There is a separate space for girls and boys.
A guarantee can be requested by the residence’s representative; this guarantee is given back at the end of the program when no damage due to the participant is noticed.

MEALS

Generally speaking, the participants will get hot meals during their stays. When there are outings, the participants get a cold packed-meal for lunch (if they are accommodated in full board). Exceptionally, when the outing is long, the participants can also get a cold dinner.
The host families and the residence cookers prepare common meals, and will not cook special meals for the participants (except for dietary or health reasons).

Students should be prepared to taste all the food prepared by the host family; host families may feel frustrated otherwise.

Depending on the program description, the participants are accommodated:

- on a full board basis = one night, one breakfast, one lunch or packed meal for lunch and one dinner.

- on a half board basis = one night, one breakfast and one dinner.

Students developing allergies or who requires special meals for diet or health reason are requested to mention this when applying on the application form.

Late notices, during the stay, cannot be considered as valid.

OUTINGS

During the whole stay, students will have to respect the host family’s rules or the residence regulations.

POCKET MONEY

Whatever the program is, the participants must arrive with pocket money to cover various expenses. We recommend that participants bring with them either an international credit card that allows them to get money from a bank, or travellers cheques in euros.

SUPERVISION / ASSISTANCE

Every participant, every group, will be supervised by a Nacel local representative.

The Nacel local representative makes sure that the participant is enjoying the stay, and that the host family, the school or the residence’s staff are also satisfied.

Nacel also offers a 24 h/24 and 7 days/7 assistance in case of an emergency.
