Live in a Spanish family in Cadiz! The Nacel Spanish homestay in Cadiz program offers teenagers opportunities to experience the everyday life of a Spanish host family in Spain, on a sunny location. This Spanish immersion program in Cadiz proudly represents the foundation of all Nacel language programs, offering the chance for a young person from abroad to improve his/her level of Spanish by living in a Spanish family in Cadiz. Language improvement comes from the constant immersion in a Spanish family. The friendship which results from living as a member of a Spanish family encourages continued international communication and understanding.

LOCATION
Cadiz, capital city of the province of the same name, stands on a 10.58 Km peninsula and has a population of approximately 157.000 inhabitants. It is almost entirely surrounded by water, except for a narrow strip of land which connects the city to another island, San Fernando. Cadiz is strategically situated between the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean; this idyllic location played a determinant role in its history. The province enjoys 138 Km of white sandy beaches, dunes and transparent waters, while the capital has three beaches which joined make up almost 10 Km.

Its rich history is present in historic buildings, magnificent parks and charming squares. The city is also the administrative centre of the province and has the feel of a capital city without losing its small town touch. Cadiz has an excellent climate: warm and temperate. The temperatures range between 14º and 20º in winter and slightly above 22º in summertime. Cadiz is proud to be one of the few cities in the world where inhabitants and visitors enjoy more than 300 days of sunshine per year.

Host families in Cadiz come from many social and economical backgrounds of life and may live in various locations (in a big town, in a small city, in a village or on a farm...). Wherever the student’s host family lives, there will be wonderful things to discover and absorb. Students can be placed anywhere in the country and must accept any location. Nacel's coordinators select the host families and are available to answer questions and handle any student/host family concerns during the program.

ACTIVITIES :

The new family member is expected to take part in the daily activities of his or her host family in Spain. Integration into the family is the ultimate goal of the homestay experience. However host families are not required to organize activities, visits or excursions. The participant comes with its own spending money to cover the costs of activities.

ELIGIBILITY :

-A minimum of one to two year of Spanish language study
-Participants must show that they are mature enough to participate in the Spanish homestay program that requires:
-Interest in learning about the Spanish culture
-Deep desire to integrate a different family and share actively their everyday life
-Enthusiasm for improving language communication skills
-Willingness to make new friends
-An open and flexible attitude during the Spanish immersion in Cadiz
