Live in an Australian family! The Nacel homestay program offers teenagers opportunities to experience the everyday life of a host family in Australia. This immersion program in Australia proudly represents the foundation of all Nacel language programs, offering the chance for a young person from abroad to improve his/her level of English by living with an Australian host family. Language improvement comes from the constant immersion in a family. The friendship which results from living as a member of an Australian family encourages continued international communication and understanding.

Please note that in Australia, the participant of the homestay program will attend an Australian high school during the program, with the host sister or brother or other children of the neighbourhood.

LOCATION
The student will be placed in an Australian homestay in Perth, Western Australia, where he/she will enjoy a Mediterranean climate, a quiet and safe lifestyle, and Perth beaches. Perth is the fourth biggest city in Australia. Thanks to the sweet climate of the city, many outdoor sports can be practiced there!

ACCOMMODATION :

Homestay, full board.

The student is hosted on a full board basis in an Australian family. Students are placed in homestay and attend a government or private Australian school, depending on the program chosen. Students are accommodated in paid Australian host families and will be fully immersed in the life of an Australian family.
Students will be taken care of by our carefully selected Australian families.

Australian Host families come from many social and economical backgrounds of life and may live in various locations (in a big town, in a small city, in a village or on a farm...). Wherever the student’s host family lives, there will be wonderful things to discover and absorb.  Students must accept any location. It is very important for us to match the students with the host family, so this is what will determine the location of the student. Nacel's coordinators select the Australian host families and are available to answer questions and handle any student/host family concerns during the homestay in Australia program.

ACTIVITIES :

The new family member is expected to take part in the daily activities of his or her Australian host family. Integration into the family is the ultimate goal of the homestay in Australia experience. However host families are not required to organize activities, visits or excursions. The participant comes with its own spending money to cover the costs of activities during the immersion in Australia.

High School Program
During their stay, students attend classes in a local Australian high school with family’s children or with a neighbour’s child. This will allow them to discover Australian school system. Sometimes you will have to wear a uniform. Generally, in Australia classes start at 8.45pm and ends around 3.30pm. There are no classes held on Saturdays. Lunches are taken at school. The schools try as much as possible to put you in a classroom in which you will be the only student of your citizenship/mother tongue.
During school holidays students stay with their Australian host families. Included in the cost is a small orientation with a coordinator as well as supervision and support from a coordinator during the stay.

ELIGIBILITY :

-A minimum of one to two year of English language study
-Students must be non-smokers to be able to participate to this homestay in Australia program.
-Body-piercing is forbidden in some schools.
-You will have to comply with the school’s uniform-rules.
-Participants must show that they are mature enough to participate in the program that requires:
-Interest in learning about the Australian culture
-Deep desire to integrate an Australian host family and share actively their everyday life
-Enthusiasm for improving language communication skills
-Willingness to make new friends 
-An open and flexible attitude
