Our French school in Lyon offers a winning combination to those wishing to learn or to improve their French language skills in a great environment. It is located on the Rhone banks in a pleasant area of the city centre. There is a student residence near to the school with as swimming pool and a cafeteria for students use.

Our French school also offers university programs which enables you to attend higher education in France! Lyon is 2 hours away from Paris, 1 hour away from the Alpes Mountains, 3 hours from the sea! So just come and enjoy your stay in Lyon!

LOCATION
Lyon is a beautiful city with a rich cultural life. It is the second-largest metropolitan area in France after Paris. As a UNESCO world heritage site, Lyon has over 2000 years of history imprinted on its streets and monuments. Discover the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière as well as the Saint-Jean Cathedral, enjoy the Croix Rousse area, get lost in the huge and wonderful Parc de la Tête d'Or and so many other worth seeing things are waiting for you... Lyon is also the gastronomic capital of France, so take the time to try some specialities in our warm welcoming restaurants called “bouchons”!

Come and enjoy cultural events and performances throughout the summer period, for example the Fourvière festival which has become one of the main international festivals. The festival usually takes place in the Roman amphitheatres of Fourvière and the programme includes theatre, dance, concerts and cinema. Thousands of people travel to Lyon every year for this event.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The French school is located in the centre of Lyon.
Easy access to the school (two tram stops less than 5 minutes on foot). However, please note that public transportation is stopped around midnight.
Facilities: free-access multimedia room and Internet, WiFi, recreation room with microwave where students can have lunch and rest, appropriate access for disabled students.

Course content: General French lessons
Course material: Not included.

GENERAL FRENCH COURSE
The student can choose among three courses:
- SEMI-INTENSIVE COURSE
Semi-intensive: 15 hours/week from Monday to Friday= 12 hours general French course + 3 hours option
- INTENSIVE COURSE
Intensive: 18 hours from Monday to Friday
Intensive +: 20 hours/week from Monday to Friday = 18 hours general French course + 2 hours option

French cuisine option: discover the French Cuisine and become a Cordon Bleu chef! This course will enable you to combine language learning (semi-intensive or intensive courses) with the art of cookery.
Additional fee: one French cuisine course/week = 4 times a month (prices on request)
4 types of exams can be prepared:
- DILF and TCF (diploma and test meant to assess language skills). They are delivered by the French Education Ministry.
- TEF (placement test in French for non French-speaking candidates in a professional environment).
- DAFA (diploma meant to assess French skills for business and negotiations).

ACADEMIC STAFF
All teachers are highly qualified to teach French as a foreign language.

ACCOMMODATION
Host family: single room, half board on weekdays, weekends and bank holidays.

On request:
University Residence (around 216 euros/month): single room, kitchen and bathroom shared, without meals (self-catering), cafeteria open from Monday to Friday.
Student Residence (closed in August, around 365 euros/month): single room, kitchen and bathroom shared, without meals.
Individual Flat (around 500 euros/month): furnished flat or studio, without meals (self-catering).

ACTIVITIES :

LEISURE ACTIVITIES
Learn French and enjoy your stay in Lyon! Typical half-day activities organized by the French school during the week: the Old Lyon quarter, worth visiting monuments, museums, theatres, concerts, worth seeing roman or medieval cities around Lyon and even visit to Paris.
Students are responsible for any fees related to these optional activities.

ACCESS/ TRANSPORTATION

Nearest airport: Lyon Saint-Exupéry (international flights: UK, Spain, Portugal, Germany and many others…).
Transfer available: Airport pick up and transfer to the student residence or to the school.
From Monday to Friday: 60 euros each way
On evenings and weekends: 80 euros each way
Train : Three main train stations: Part-Dieu, Perrache, St-Exupéry TGV (French high-speed train) between Lyon and Paris every hour (journey lasts approximately 2 hours).

Public transportation: 1.60 €/ticket or 13.70 € for 10 tickets.
Meals at the student cafeteria: 2,75 euros/meal
Cinema UGC Lyon: 9.10 €; 6.20 € (discount tickets for students)
