Live in a French family thanks to our homestay in France + homeschooling! The Nacel homestay program offers teenagers opportunities to experience the everyday life of a host family in France. This immersion program proudly represents the foundation of all Nacel language programs, offering the chance for a young person from abroad to improve his/her level of French. Language improvement comes from the constant immersion in a family during the homestay program. The friendship which results from living as a member of a family encourages continued international communication and understanding.

Nacel’s homestay with a French volunteer host family provides a firsthand opportunity to understand French culture and improve language communication skills. French is a widely-spread language not only in the world of culture but also in the world of business. Speaking French is a tremendous asset for students’ business and personal career.

French host families welcome their exchange student for some weeks with the expectation that the experience will lead to friendship during the homestay in France. French host families look forward to sharing not only their language during the homstay in France, but also their everyday life with someone who is eager to participate.

Please note that during the June session, the student may attend a local school depending on the host sister or brother’s school (planning, organization...).


HOME SCHOOLING OPTION
Nacel's Home Schooling option is an exciting program for summer students and their host families. It offers a chance for students to learn French with a member of their host family on a structured one-on-one basis. It also provides a context for communication, language activities, and cultural sharing which will foster continued understanding and closeness.

A member of the family will tutor the student for a total of 15 hours during the first two weeks of the homestay in France. The tutoring will be geared towards improvement of conversational language. The student will also be taught how to « fit in » the French life and about the community and its value. Nacel provides each home tutor with materials, including a workbook and general guidelines of the program and examples of how to help format tutoring lessons.
This program is mainly intended for students who have the very basic skills of the French language.

ACCOMMODATION :

The student is hosted on a full board basis by a French host family.

French host families are volunteer. This means they are not paid to host the student during the homestay in France. They are generally really enthusiastic and offer a warm welcome to the student. They are also eager to make discover their way of life to the student, and will want to know about his/her life in his home country.
French host families welcome their exchange student for some weeks during the homestay in France with the hope that the experience will lead to friendship. They look forward to sharing not only their language but also their everyday life with someone who is eager to participate. We try as much as possible to match a student with a family who shares the same interests, so you can’t choose your location.

French Host families come from many social and economical backgrounds of life and may live in various locations (in a big town, in a small city, in a village or on a farm...). Wherever the student’s host family lives, there will be wonderful things to discover and absorb. Students can be placed anywhere in the country and must accept any location. It is very important for us to match the students with the host family, so this is what will determine the location of the student. Nacel's coordinators select the host families and are available to answer questions and handle any student/host family concerns during the program.

ACTIVITIES :

The new family member is expected to take part in the daily activities of his or her French host family during his/her homestay program in France. Integration into the family is the ultimate goal of the homestay experience. However host families are not required to organize activities, visits or excursions. The participant comes with its own spending money to cover the costs of activities.

ELIGIBILITY :

-A minimum of one to two year of French language study
-Participants must show that they are mature enough to participate in the homestay in France program that requires:
-Interest in learning about the French culture
-Deep desire to integrate a different family and share actively their everyday life
-Enthusiasm for improving language communication skills
-Willingness to make new friends
-An open and flexible attitude
