This program will allow you to live in a French homestay family in France and to participate in a tour of Paris where you will discover this city's most famous places!

Live in a French family! The French homestay in France offers teenagers opportunities to experience the everyday life of a French host family in France. This French immersion program proudly represents the foundation of all Nacel language programs, offering the chance for a young person from abroad to improve his/her level of French. Language improvement comes during the French homestay in France from the constant immersion in a French family. The friendship which results from living as a member of a French family encourages continued international communication and understanding.

Nacel’s homestay with a French volunteer host family provides a firsthand opportunity to understand French culture and improve language communication skills. French is a widely-spread language not only in the world of culture but also in the world of business. Speaking French is a tremendous asset for students’ business and personal career.

French host families welcome their exchange student for some weeks with the expectation that the experience will lead to friendship. They look forward to sharing not only their language during the immersion in France but also their everyday life with someone who is eager to participate.

Please note that during the June session, the student may attend a local school depending on the French host sister or brother’s school (planning, organization...).

DISCOVER PARIS OPTION
After or before the French homestay program’s start, students can choose to gather in Paris, where they will meet their French tour director, who will lead them during the whole tour. 3 nights accommodation are organized in a 2** hotel located in the Paris area, on a full board basis.
This Paris tour will offer the students the opportunity to discover the very famous Parisian cultural places: visit to the Tour Eiffel (3rd level), evening cruise on the River Seine, visit to the Versailles castle, visit to the quartier Montmartre and Notre Dame du Sacré Coeur, visit to the musée du Louvre, visit to the quartier latin, Boulevard St Germain and Jardin du Luxembourg.

ACCOMMODATION :

The student is hosted on a full board basis in a French host family.

French host families are volunteer. This means they are not paid to host the student. The French host family is generally really enthusiastic and offer a warm welcome to the student during his/her homestay in France. They are also eager to make discover their way of life to the student, and will want to know about his/her life in his home country.
French host families welcome their exchange student for some weeks with the hope that the experience will lead to friendship. They look forward to sharing not only their language but also their everyday life with someone who is eager to participate. We try as much as possible to match a student with a French family who shares the same interests, so you can’t choose your location in France.

French host families come from many social and economical backgrounds of life and may live in various locations (in a big town, in a small city, in a village or on a farm...). Wherever the student’s host family lives, there will be wonderful things to discover and absorb. Students can be placed anywhere in France and must accept any location. It is very important for us to match the students with the French host family, so this is what will determine the location of the student. Nacel's coordinators select the host families and are available to answer questions and handle any student/host family concerns during the program.

ACTIVITIES :

The new family member is expected to take part in the daily activities of his or her French host family. Integration into the family is the ultimate goal of the homestay experience. However host families are not required to organize activities, visits or excursions. The participant comes with its own spending money to cover the costs of activities.

ELIGIBILITY :

A minimum of one to two year of French language study.
Participants must show that they are mature enough to participate in the French homestay in France, that requires:
-Interest in learning about the French culture and language
-Deep desire to integrate a different family and share actively their everyday life
-Enthusiasm for improving language communication skills
-Willingness to make new friends
-An open and flexible attitude during the homestay in France in a French family

2 months before arrival in the French host family.

CONDITIONS - FRENCH HOMESTAY IN FRANCE :

2, 3 or 4 weeks in July or August, getting ahead of or following the Discovery Tour Paris, which will take place between July 24^th and 27^th 2011. Students choose their preferred length, start and end date, provided the fact that they arrive on a Sunday (or July 22^th early morning) and depart on a Saturday (or July 25^th late evening).

- International airfare
- International Travel insurance
- Visa, passport and medical exam fees
- Extra activities organized by the family or others
- Personal expenses and pocket money
- Medical and Emergency Repatriation Insurance
- Application fees (40 euros)
