Live in a French family! The French  homestay in France offers teenagers opportunities to experience the everyday life of a French host family in France. This Immersion program in France proudly represents the foundation of all Nacel language programs, offering the chance for a young person from abroad to improve his/her level of French by living in a French host family. Language improvement during the French homestay program comes from the constant immersion in a French family. The friendship which results from living as a member of a French host family encourages continued international communication and understanding.

Nacel’s homestay in France with a French volunteer host family provides a firsthand opportunity to understand French culture and improve language communication skills. French is a widely-spread language not only in the world of culture but also in the world of business. Speaking French is a tremendous asset for students’ business and personal career.

French host families welcome their exchange student for some weeks with the expectation that the French homestay in France experience will lead to friendship. They look forward to sharing not only their language but also their everyday life with someone who is eager to participate.

Please note that during the June session, the student may attend a local French school depending on the host sister or brother’s school (planning, organization...).

ACCOMMODATION :

The student is hosted in a French host family on a full board basis.

French host families are volunteer. This means they are not paid to host the student. French host families are generally really enthusiastic and offer a warm welcome to the student. The French host family is also eager to make discover their way of life to the student during the French homestay program, and will want to know about his/her life in his home country.
French host families welcome their exchange student for some weeks with the hope that the experience will lead to friendship. They look forward to sharing not only their language but also their everyday life with someone who is eager to participate. We try as much as possible to match a student with a family who shares the same interests, so you can’t choose your location.

French Host families come from many social and economical backgrounds of life and may live in various locations (in a big town, in a small city, in a village or on a farm...). Wherever the student’s host family lives, there will be wonderful things to discover and absorb. Students can be placed anywhere in Franc and must accept any location. It is very important for us to match the students with the host family, so this is what will determine the location of the student. Nacel's coordinators select the host families and are available to answer questions and handle any student/host family concerns during the program.

ACTIVITIES :

The new family member is expected to take part in the daily activities of his or her French host family. Integration into the family is the ultimate goal of the French Homestay experience. However host families are not required to organize activities, visits or excursions. The participant comes with its own spending money to cover the costs of activities.

ELIGIBILITY :

A minimum of one to two year of French language study.
Participants must show that they are mature enough to participate in the French homestay in France, that requires:
-Interest in learning about the French culture and language
-Deep desire to integrate a different family and share actively their everyday life
-Enthusiasm for improving language communication skills
-Willingness to make new friends
-An open and flexible attitude during the Immersion in France

DEADLINE :

2 months before arrival in the French host family.

CONDITIONS - FRENCH HOMESTAY IN FRANCE :

From 2 to 8 weeks in June/July/August. Students choose their preferred length, start and end date, provided the fact that they arrive on a Sunday and depart on a Saturday.

Prices 2012

PRICE INCLUDES :

- Administration fees
- French Homestay placement on a full board basis
- Airport pick-up and transfer to host family on arrival and departure
- Support, assistance and 24 hours emergency phone number during the whole program

PRICE DOES NOT INCLUDE :

- International airfare
- International Travel insurance
- Visa, passport and medical exam fees
- Extra activities organized by the family or others
- Personal expenses and pocket money
- Extra language courses
- Medical and Emergency Repatriation Insurance
- Application fees (40 euros)
