High School in England

High School in England

DESCRIPTION :

The College was established in 1964 and received the British Council Beacon Award for its welfare and support of international students. It offers a high standard of education in a safe, friendly environment with good modern facilities. Each year the College welcomes 1600 students and among them over 200 students come from some 20 different countries around the world. It has an established reputation in international education (20 years of experience).
Nacel provides students with two types of accommodation: students can choose to be hosted in a friendly English host family living in the same town or in the students residence on the College campus (136 single study-bedrooms with modern facilities and Internet access). There are many possibilities to participate in sports activities in the College (football, basketball, squash, table tennis, tennis, swimming...). A social program is also organized throughout the year, like parties, trips and day excursions.
The College is located in a market town on the East coast of England. A train journey to London takes less that two hours.
Classes begin in early September and finish at the end of June.

SCHOOL CURRICULUM
Most international students join the AS program (first year of the A-Level) or the A-Level itself. The A-level, short for Advanced Level, is a General Certificate of Education qualification in the United Kingdom, usually taken by students in the final two years of secondary education. The College proposes 20 subjects on offer: Art and Design, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Mathematics, Media, Photography, Physics, Psychology, Religious Studies, Sociology, English Language, English Literature, Film Studies, French, Government and Politics, History, Law, Statistics and Travel and Tourism. Students choose four AS subjects to study and English course to prepare to IELTS exam. Assessment varies from subject to subject but will either be all examination or a combination of examination and coursework/practical. It is expected that students attend the public exam in May or June. Approximately 20/25 hours a week are studied in the College, according to how many subjects are taken. Students are also expected to have their own study time, say 30/35 hours in total.
Please note that short or long term English study programs are also offered to international students.
