Nacel provides international students with a choice among 5 voluntary secondary Irish schools (3 single sex schools & 2 mixed sex schools) located in the South of Dublin. These Irish high schools are privately owned and managed, often by church authorities. Extra curricular activities vary in each high school in Ireland but usually sports activities are provided. During academic program in Dublin, Ireland, classes begin in early September and finish in early June.
SCHOOL SYSTEM
There are 3 distinct levels of education in Ireland: primary, secondary and higher education. Most students attend and complete secondary education. Secondary education is generally completed at a community school, a comprehensive school, a vocational school or a voluntary secondary school. A typical secondary school will consist of 1st to 3rd Year, the usually optional Transition Year (‹ 16 Y.O.), the 5th (16/17 Y.O.) and 6th Year (› 17 Y.O.). School principals make the ultimate decision on the appropriate class for any student following a face-to-face interview. Art, Biology, Business, Chemistry, English, Economics, French, German, Geography, History, Home Economics, Maths, Music, Physics, Religion, Computers, Physical Education courses are usually offered. Some schools offer extra English classes to international students.
